Catching up with layouts

Okay, so my older sister reminded me that I haven't updated my blog lately.  In fact my last post was on May 20th.  Being a teacher, I should have more time during the summer to blog but I actually have less time.  Reason being:  Bostyn is not in summer school!!!  That was a big mistake on my part.  Instead of finding time to scrap, I am finding myself knee deep in dress-up play, tea parties, etc.  So just a quick post to catch up with some layouts since Bostyn is over at grandpa's house.  Not posting individual credits but if you see something you like, you can check out my gallery here.

These first three was a special Eric Carle release at OSD.  Just love Eric Carle's artwork and when the OSD designers came up with this special release, it overflowed my creative juices.  The top layout is actually a hybrid layout (for non-digi people, it means that I used digital products, printed, cut, and layered all by hand.  I did a bit of misting and stitching on the top.  I even crinkled one of my papers (inspired by Allison Waken).  This layout was also selected by Club CK for their blog gallery highlight.  I was so tickled!

Okay here are the rest in no particular order:

Sorry for the long post, I hope it all loaded quickly for you.  I hope to blog later about our California adventure.

Marvelous May

May is off to a good start.  Here are a few photos to highlight the first half of the month.

First off, May Day.  Bostyn's preschool had a wonderful May Day program filled with the songs and dances of little ones ages 2-4.  Bostyn and her class sang and danced to We are Family (Ohana).  Here is a photo of Bostyn with her partner Jake Ryan (yes, this is the same little boy that she stood next to, for her x-mas program.  She still plans to marry him one day).

This next photo, is more for my dear high school friend, Linda.  She has a blog about her day to day life battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma Stage IV.  She is knee deep in chemo sessions, working, and most of all, being a mother.  She has two young sons and one of them attends the same preschool as Bostyn.  Here he is, in green, representing the island of Molokai, for the royal Hawaiian court.  As I mentioned, she is a classmate of mine, well not just a classmate, but my best friend.  She tells me that she is too lazy to post pictures on her blog, so I am giving her permission to save this image and share it on her blog for her family and friends to see.  So this is for you, Linda.

Next up, Mother's Day.  Bostyn never smiles at the camera and so this was the best shot of the two of us together.  These candid moments are my favorites.  I think it shows more emotion and joy of the day then if both of us was staring straight at the camera.

Bostyn made me flowers and a vase for Mother's Day along with a recipe book from her classmates.

Bostyn and Tate picked out these Cole Haan shoes for my Mother's Day present.  I think Cole Haan shoes are a good value for the quality and comfort you get from them.

My super, handsome, energetic, and funny nephew, Nicholas, came all the way from Oregon to visit.  As you can see, Bostyn just loves her cousin Nick.  She really looks up to him in every way.

Here is a photo my my parents with 3/4 of their grandchildren.  So where is Josh?  He is on the slide and refused to be part of the fun.  Bribery didn't work, we tried and failed miserably.

In 9 more days, we are leaving for California.  We will spend 2 days at Disneyland and the rest in San Diego.  Tate plans on running, or more like walking, the Rock 'n Roll Marathon.  Bostyn is very excited and already counting down the days.

Dear Photograph

I just wanted to share some "Dear Photograph" moments.  I've been meaning to post these earlier but it wasn't until I read about Ella Publishing's Challenge.  You can read about Dear Photograph and find out more about the creator, here.

This first picture is of me on my first birthday back in 1974, thanks mom for writing the date right on the photo.

This next photo is me again but a little older.  Hard to see, but I have on a Kikaida t-shirt on and my little moccasins.

A Week in my Life 2012

Here is my life in a typical week.  Nothing too exciting really but just a peek into what we do everyday.  Sorry the pictures are in collages by the day but within that it is completely random.

Sunday, April 22, 2012
We went to Pearlridge mall and Bostyn enjoyed riding the monorail (called the Sky Cab) and played some games at Fun Factory.  We did some shopping at Macy's and Bostyn picked out a few new dresses to buy.  Then it was lunch at Tsuruya where we all got noodles.  I did about 3 loads of laundry that afternoon then it was off to my parent's house for dinner.  Bostyn loves to go there because it gives her time to play with her cousins.

Monday, April 23, 2012
It was a good thing that I did laundry on Sunday because Bostyn insisted wearing her new dress to school.  She continues to love that dress and asks to wear it right after washing.  Just a simple work day so not much pictures.  I captured Bostyn kissing daddy before he left for work, hanging up her backpack at school, and some work she brought home to show us.  Then her usual, going over to play at papa's house.  Simple dinner of corn and chicken.  After dinner, Tate and Bostyn made princess crowns together and then Bostyn dressed Tate up as a princess.  Her favorite thing to do.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012
5:30 spin class in the morning for me.  If I don't wake up when that alarm rings then I'll never make it to the gym.  Tate has been working really hard at his new job which often means late nights at work or on the weekends.  He has been trying to take off early at least one day a week to spend time with us.  Today was one of those special days.  We meet up for lunch at Souvaly, Thai food, and enjoyed all those wonderful dishes shown below.  We then went to Toys R Us and bought a few new balls then picked up Bostyn early from school and went to the park to play.  She really looks forward to these kinds of day too.  We then went to Jamba Juice before heading home.

Wednesday, April 25, 2012
Wednesdays are Bostyn's creative movement dance classes.  They are practicing for their upcoming June dance recital where they will be dancing to the Smurf Song.  She has a really bright blue tutu to wear for this event.  We then went to Leeward Drive-In for some noodles and teri beef dinner plate.  I also managed to go check on the chickens and collected their two eggs.  The little chicks are no longer little but they are still sweet in their own way.  I also received my confirmation that my Silhouette Cameo had been shipped that way.  We also got a nice letter in the mail from Disney to help plan our upcoming trip.

Thursday, April 26, 2012
Not much going on.  Went to another 5:30am spin class.  Shinobu kicks butt!  I also managed to get a picture of my portable in which I teach in.  I also went on a Costco run and managed to find a few goodies.  I'm was reading Catching Fire (already done) and worked on some layouts.  I also managed to take a few photos of Bostyn playing at school.

Friday, April 27, 2012
On Fridays, I try to pick up Bostyn early from school and take her to the Farmer's Market.  Lots of nice fresh fruits and vegetables to buy.  However Bostyn's favorites are lumpia and the jumpers.  We then went to Grandma's house to play bubbles with her cousins.
 Saturday, April 28, 2012
Tate had to work so Bostyn and I enjoyed the day together.  We went to the zoo and then to Teddy's Burger for lunch.  We walked across the street to Waikiki Beach and watch the waves for a few minutes then left.  Oh how I wished we brought our bathing suits.  Bostyn passed out in the car and took a nice 3 hour nap.  Shortly after returning home, my Cameo arrived!  When Tate came home we went to Ichiriki for dinner.  It was our first time but not our last.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little bit of my everyday life.  Be back later with some layouts to share.
