Is it Halloween yet?

Did you notice all the Halloween kits that have recently hit all the stores?  I can't believe that it is almost October.  Where did September go?

Here is a cool Halloween kit by Che Yang Designs called This October Day.  When I first got this kit, I was so anxious to start and make a layout.  I think I tried to force it upon myself at a time when I was too busy (in real life).  I was very frustrated and disappointed with myself that I couldn't produce something that I really loved.  I put it aside a few days and came up with a few things.

This first layout, I used Che's Simple Template no. 9 so it wasn't too hard to put something together.

I really loved the papers in Che's kit so I wanted to do a layout that showed it off.

Now, onto Karen Funk, she has a new kit called Fallin' For You.  I love the bold shade of red and all the cute stitched flowers.  An opihi is a Hawaiian limpet, kinda like a snail.  It makes its home on the rocky shorelines.  When a child attaches oneself to their parent, we call them an "opihi."  Bostyn has never really been an "opihi" until more recently.  She has gotten to the stranger danger syndrome.  When there are new people around, she just clings onto me or Tate.  So for that, I call her my little opihi.

This next layout is using Delight by Sara Schmutz.  I fell in love with the cute forest animals and the rich colors in this kit.

$5 RAK

I've been very blessed to have been invited to join many creative teams.  This leaves me with an abundance of supplies.  I recently won a $5 GC for participating in a Design House Digital challenge.  Since I'm a decorator there, I already get a very generous allowance for purchasing goodies there.  I asked if I could give my Design House Digital GC away to one of my lucky blog readers and they said yes, since I won it as a prize.  So all you have to do is leave me a comment below and on Saturday, September 18th, Mr. Random will pick a winner.  Good luck.

Karen Funk has some really cool layered templates at DHD.  What exactly is a layered template?  It is easy to use like a quick page, if you wish.  What is great about it is that it contains all the layers in a psd file so you can alter to your desire.  So you can see that this is way more useful than just a quick page.

Here is a preview of the School Layered Template.

This is how I used the template to make it my own since I don't have any school pictures of Bostyn yet.  I hid the Back to School title and added my own.  I also changed the papers and some elements to match my photos.

This is my friend's daughter.  She is so sweet and loves to take care of Bostyn.  I really wanted to do a layout for her because she is just super awesome!

Bostyn was so sad when her cousin took her doll away.  This is her pouty look.  She will have to learn how to share.

Creations by Tinamarie came out with a beautiful fall kit.  It gave me a good excuse to catch up with some photos taken last year.  Here we are at the pumpkin patch at Aloun Farms.

So leave me a comment by next Saturday and you'll be entered to win a $5 GC to Design House Digital.

Chetkova Designs

Okay, so I posted yesterday that I was asked to do a few layouts to help promote a new designer, Chetkova Designs at Matrioshki Scrap Designs.  Here is a preview of her kit, Summer Dreams.

This kit is filled with vibrant colors and whimsy.  Not my usual style and kit to work with, but I loved it.  I really love playing with different kits as it helps me to stretch my creativity and really see what I can do.  Don't we all love a challenge?  My husband tells me that it prevents my pages from looking the same.  I think some of you will agree.  It is good to experiment and try new things.  Here are two layouts that I did using this kit.

In this first layout, I kept to my usual plain white background.  Then I clustered elements all around the frame and something to anchor it all together.  I found this beautiful quote by Maya Angelou to really tie it all together.  I'm really pleased with myself as this was REALLY out of my comfort zone and I ended up really loving the way it turned out.

In this next layout, I went with more of my usual style of scrapping.  Simple photo, paper, and only a few elements.  Super simple!

Back in August a new digi store opened up, Ninth and Bloom.  I just love their site.  I love just looking at their website.  The colors are great . . . cream, chocolate, and minty green.  The fonts are cute and the kits are inviting.  When they first opened, I purchased two kits by Kasia Designs and a template pack by Fizzy Pop Designs.  I've been wanting to do some layouts with these new kits but never had the time.  I finally had some time yesterday to dedicate some scrapping time just for me.  This is what I came out with.

This first layout is using the Kooky Cutouts template and Dreams of Smitten kit.  I love the monochromatic scheme to this kit and the paper flowers were to die for.

This layout is using Kasia's Just a Note kit.  I love the flower clip and the hearts.

When previewing this blog, I noticed a sharp contrast in layouts.  The first two are bursting with colors and the last two are so brown and gray.  Honestly, the browns and grays are my colors.  Even my mother will tell you.  She's always telling me I need to add more color into my wardrobe.  I guess it even reflects in my digi stash as well.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

more layouts to share

okay, that didn't take me so long . . . here is a collage of my most recent layouts.  I hope you can see this okay.  For individual credits or to see the layouts in greater detail, please go to my gallery at oscraps.

I was approached to do several layouts for the debut of a new designer.  A bright and cheery kit to be released tomorrow.  So check back soon for more info about this NEW designer, her amazing kit, and my layouts.  And NO, this didn't count as a CT because it was only to make a FEW layouts for this ONE time only.  I was just honored to be asked and couldn't pass it up.

Che's Challenge Cont.

Okay, I'm back to show you what I did using Che's template and quick page.  Remember, go to Che's blog to get your freebie template and quick page.

Che's quick page was too cute and I had a hard time trying to find something creative to do to it.  To Che's quick page, I added another paper to the back, flower on top, and blended in a photo.

This is my friend's daughter in the next layout.  Isn't she a cutie!

I'm so behind in posting the rest of my layouts,  off to put the rest of my layouts into a collage.  Be back soon!

NEW creative team

I told my husband, no more creative teams for me.  He told me that I already spend too much time on the computer.  Well . . . to make a long story short, I joined another creative team.  Yes, my husband was not too happy with me.  He said it was okay as long as I don't forget about him and Bostyn.  He was so understanding that this hobby of mine is what makes me happy.  I enjoy creating layouts for everyone to see.  So . . . I'm here to announce that I am now on Karen's creative team.  You may have already noticed her blinkie on the sidebar.  Karen has some beautiful kits that are just my style.  She just started selling her designs at Design House Digital about a month ago and I already created many layouts using her stuff.  It really compliments my style of scrapping really well.  Take a look at her newest kit, Simplicity.

Isn't it gorgeous!  Well, I took her large clustered frame, threw in a dandelion flower scatter, papers, flowers, stitches, word art, and my photos and a simple layout done in no time.  Here it is.

Here is another layout that I did today using an earlier kit, Simply Girly.

Gotta go now, hubby just walked in.  Time to give him some attention.  I'll be back tomorrow to post about a freebie and challenge from Che.
