2010 Photo Shoot

A few weeks back, we had our annual photo shoot with Lisa of Utopia Photography.  Lisa only uses black and white film.  Yup, darkroom and all!  The most wonderful thing with b/w film is the overall texture and contrast that you don't always see in digital.  I have a few images to share with all of you.  It is so hard to decide on which photos I want to have printed, gallery wrap, custom collage, and holiday cards.

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday, we went to Aloun Farms to pick pumpkins.  Instead of spending the day searching for the great pumpkin, we found ourselves entertaining Bostyn with the inflatable slide and kiddie rides.  Don't you just love that little hat?

Last weekend, we went to the Children's Discovery Center.  Bostyn loved it there so we purchased a one year membership pass.  Here is a picture of Bostyn pretending to be an old plantation worker picking pineapples.

Creations by Tinamarie just released this cutie of a kit, My Little Hunnybun.  Love the colors to this kit and this layout came to me very quickly.  I love how this page turned out.

So DHD's newest designer, Karla Dudley, is such a hoot.  I mentioned to her that I wish I knew how to use more of my digital brushes into my layouts.  She then offered to help me via skype!  How cool is that?!!  So we had a chat earlier in the week and she gave me some tips and advice about incorporating brushes into my layouts.  We chatted for more than an hour, she had so much to share.  So here are two layouts using some her kits and brushes.  (btw, she has more new goodies in the shop that I haven't even had time to play with yet.)

Where do I begin?  There are so much that I have to share.

First off, Sue Cummings because she was the very first designer who invited me to join their creative team. At the time, I was new to digi scrapping and was so shocked and honored to have the invite.  I wouldn't be where I am today w/o her and her amazing creative team.

so much to post, so little time

There is so much to post, so little time.  I can't believe that almost all the designers that I work with had new releases out today.  I don't have time to do a full post, but will leave you with this.  This is a new collab kit called Autumn Romance by Che Yang Designs and Scooty Designs at mscraps.  Isn't this lovely.  I really liked the way this layout came together.  It helped to have a cool template by EHStudios to give me a lift.  Thanks Elisa for the template of my choice!  I'll be back to post the links and more goodies.

Happy Birthday Bostyn

Bostyn celebrated her 2nd birthday on Saturday.  I can't believe it was just 2 years ago that she was born and look at how she has grown.

We took our annual Christmas pictures last week and we get this fabulous morning light out on our mountain behind our house.  We can't wait to have our proofing session.

My new favorite photo, Bostyn painting naked.  This photo is so cute because you get just a little peek at her tiny little butt.

I have tons of layouts to share, but I'll save it for another day.  I'm still recovering from a weekend of parties, cake, and ice cream.

I got published

I got exciting news, I got published in the October 2010 Artisan Notebook.  Creations by Tinamarie was in the designer's spotlight so her creative team was invited to share their layouts and get published.  How cool is that?  And Tate thought he was the writer in the family.  I got a free copy and loved their articles especially on photography.

Tina has a new kit out, An Autumn Affair to Remember, it is filled with super soft and sweet colors.

New Designer in the House

Did you know that there is a new designer at Design House Digital?  Karla Dudley is there rocking the house big time with her soft colors and gorgeous designs.  I think you guys are going to love her stuff.  Here are some layouts that I made with a few of her kits.

This first layout is using Modern Marvel.  I love the set of word art and stitches that are in this kit.

Next is a Halloween kit called Spook.  Again, Karla has the best word art.  I loved the "baby spook" so I had to dig up an older photo of Bostyn (taken at 22 days old).

This is a Halloween photo of my mom and grandpa taken in 1986.  I used Karen Funk's easy to use Bewitching layered quick page.  I just rotated the page and added my photo, easy, easy, easy, and I love easy.

Oct. Challenge at DHD

A new month brings new challenges at all the digi stores.  This month, I am hosting the Inspiration Challenge at Design House Digital.  I want you to take inspiration from your books.  It can be a title, cover layout, favorite quote, reading, etc.  The possibilities are endless with this one.

Here is a sample book and my inspiration layout.  I used the story, Guess How Much I Love You, by Sam McBratney.  I took inspiration from the title and my journaling is my favorite line from the story.  I also used a mask to highlight my photo and a similar font like the cover.  I hope you join me for this challenge.
