Merry Christmas 2013

Just wanted to share our Christmas card taken by Lisa, Utopia Photography.  She has taken our Christmas pictures every year in October since Bostyn was a week old.  Lisa takes the photo using only black and white film so we're never sure what we're getting but we trust in her that it will all turn out great.

Here are a few Christmas layouts and a few hybrid stuff that I worked on this past month.  They were all made using mostly Glitz Designs "Hello December" digital kit.

This photo was taken last weekend for a mother - daughter tea party.  I couldn't resist using Finnley to remember this special day for the two of us.  I really wanted to use the cute doe and fawn 3x4 card.

Let's talk about inks, paints and mists

So let's talk about paint and misting.  Why?  Because Glitz is having an inks, paints and mists feature on their blog.

Although, my assignment was to feature Cashmere Dame collection over at Jessica Sprague for One Buck Wednesday, I really wanted to share a few things regarding this.  On my digital layouts, I almost always include some type of ink splatter, watercolor paints, or mists.  I love digital painting and inking because I feel like I have so much control.  Undo is powerful, layers are awesome, and so is your opacity.  Love also the fill button.  I have unlimited amount of color choices and I can change them so easily on a layout using the fill button w/out having to trash a whole background paper.  I really like the look of paint on real paper but I have the hardest time incorporating that into my real paper layouts.

So onto OBW at Jessica Sprague.  You can get the Cashmere Dame Papers for only $1 today (Wednesday).  The element pack 1 is also on sale for $2.50.  Or you can just get the whole collection here.  Here is my layout.  In this layout you can see that I have some very subtle black ink splatters that give just a little contrast to such a muted page.

Here is another layout that I did using Color Me Happy in which I used a watercolor brush and went crazy happy with color onto my background.

I also did this layout for The Ardent Sparrow's new release called, The Savannah.  I also took my watercolor brush then used it as a clipping mask for a piece of cloud paper in the kit.  I loved the way it turned out.

If you never tried digital watercolor brushes before, don't worry because Rebeccah, The Ardent Sparrow, just released some Watercolor Templates at The Lilypad.  Here is my layout using Going Places (The Ardent Sparrow and One Little Bird collab).

Ah, mists . . . one of my favorites!  My favorite go to for mists are from Gennifer Bursett.  She has some really cool ones.  Here's a preview of one set that she has and below is how I used it.  Very stubble effect, huh.

Dusting off this blog

Dusting off this blog . . . just to announce that I've joined Glitz Digital Design Team!  You can read more about me here on Glitz Design blog page.  During this past year, I've been playing more with real paper and came across a lot of paper brands, one of them happen to be Glitz.  I saw a few peeks of their new paper collections and fell in love.  I had no idea that they even sold their digital designs at Jessica Sprague.  It was purely coincidence when Glitz contacted me and invited me to join their digital team.  It was an offer that I couldn't refuse.  I had already known about some fab collections soon to hit the market, Wild and Free, Raven, etc. and to have those in digital form would be a dream.

So here my first layout as a Glitz Digital Design Team member.  This layout is using Yours Truly Paper Pack which is on sale today at Jessica Sprague for One Buck Wednesday.  You can also get their element 1 and element 2 packs.  The template is by Sahlin Studio and the stitches are by Robyn Meierotto.

Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013

Before I welcome 2013, I feel only fitting that I properly end 2012 first.  Here are some layouts completed since my last post.  These are some pages for Rebecca Wagler aka The Ardent Sparrow.  As you can see, I've been really digging her gold glittered elements and papers.  This first layout below is my favorite, using Vintage Photobooth.

This layout was using a photo from last Christmas of me kissing Santa but using Here Comes Santa collab by Gennifer Bursett, Robyn Meierotto, Mye De Leon, and Shannon McNab.

Near the end of 2012, Gennifer Bursett closed her store at Design House Digital.  Fast forward to 2013, she opened her own store, Pixels and Company.  I'm so excited that many DHD designers went with her.  Some of my favs are Rebecca, Karla, Robyn, and Karen.  I was also very giddy excited when I saw that Shen of Creashens made the move too.  I've admired her work for years.  I made two layouts for Gennifer using Made of Awesome kit.  It was so fun to use!  I'm not sure where you can buy it yet.  So please visit Gen and her awesome designers at P&Co.

You can grab this Green Lights Ahead freebie from Gen and Karla on their Facebook page.  I don't usually scrap with a lot of green but I just loved this one.

What's new with us for 2013, nothing major in the works yet.  Tate wants to plan another family trip but destination still unknown.  I still plan on digi scrapping but also complete a Project Life album with real paper.  Bostyn is still in preschool but come fall 2013, she will be enrolling in kindergarten.  

The Ardent Sparrow

Working full time now has sure gotten me busy to do my digi scrapping.  I really had to scale down my creative team commitments so now I'm only working on layouts for The Ardent Sparrow, Rebecca Wagler.  Rebecca is awesome and has such nice delicate and vintage kits.  It is a nice change for me.  Here are some layouts created for The Ardent Sparrow:

I also do some layouts for Gennifer Bursett, who is taking a break from designing right now, but I got 2 layouts done before she closed up shop.  Can you tell I am in love with her washi tape she named after me?  I love the long strips that I could cut down to size (without distorting or changing the width of the tape) to make the frame.

Now that Gen is no longer designing, what am I to do?  A return to paper.  I thought I would never see this day that I move to the "dark side."  Truth be told, I've been participating in some scrapbooking classes for the last year but basically that was the only time I would scrap with real paper.  This layout I did in a sketch class at my local scrapbook store and I cut the Mickey Mouse pumpkins using the trace and cut feature on my cameo.

There have been so many cute scrapbooking products that I couldn't help but join Studio Calico's monthly subscription kits which now forces me to scrap with real paper more often.  Here are a few paper layouts that I did using my new Studio Calico goodies (have to justify my purchase right?).

 I can't believe it is already November!  October just flew by with celebrating Bostyn's birthday, then my nephews' birthday, and Halloween!  I hope to blog again soon, I'm still dusting it off.
